CSA ANSI LNG 4.1:2018 pdf free download – Liquefied natural gas (LNG) dispensing systems for natural gas vehicles (NGV)
3 Definitions
The following definitions shall apply in this Standard: Accessory — a part capable of performing an independent function(s) and contributing to the operations of the equipment that it serves. Approval — approved by, or approval of, the authority having jurisdiction. Approved — acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction. Approved standard — a standard that is acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction. Authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) — the organization, office, or individual responsible for approving equipment, an installation, or a procedure. Automatic valve — see Valve. Boil-off gas — cold vapor generated when LNG is heated and boils. The composition of the boil-off gas is typically that of natural gas. The temperature of the boil-off gas is above the saturation temperature of the LNG and is initially in the cryogenic range. Boil-off at constant volume increases the pressure in the piping or storage container. Boil-off gas is vented to the LNG storage tank for controlled venting operations. Breakaway device — a component installed downstream of the dispenser outlet connection to protect the dispenser assembly from damage by vehicles driving away while still connected to the dispenser fuelling nozzle. Canadian Registration Number (CRN) — a registration number, allotted by a provincial regulatory authority, that allows the design of a boiler, pressure vessel, pressure gauge, or fitting to be used in the province. Certified — (with respect to any accessory, component, equipment, or manufacturer’s installation instructions) investigated and identified by a nationally recognized testing agency as conforming to recognized standards, requirements, or accepted test reports. Connector — tubing or hose with a fitting at each end for connecting equipment with piping or tubing.
Design pressure — used for piping system design in accordance with and as defined in ANSI/ASME B31.3. Dispenser (LNG dispenser) — a device intended to transfer liquefied natural gas to a vehicle LNG fuel tank. Enclosure — a structure that protects equipment from the environment or provides noise attenuation. ESD — emergency shutdown device. Extended bonnet — extended bonnets are typically provided on LNG valves to isolate the stem seals from cryogenic temperatures. Fitting — a joint component of a piping or tubing system such as an elbow, tee, union, bushing, coupling, cross, or nipple, but not including such functioning items as a valve or pressure regulator. Fuelling nozzle — a device designed to control fuel flow and containment when connected to the fuel tank receptacle and stop fuel flow when not engaged. Fuelling station — a facility for the dispensing of vehicle fuel. It includes stationary equipment associated with fuel delivery, storage, transfer pumping, dispensing and ancillary control, and electrical equipment. Hose — a flexible conduit. Housing — an enclosure that is intended to protect operating parts, control mechanisms, or other components, that need not be accessible during normal operation. Hydrostatic test — the hydraulic pressure to which pressure components, equipment, or systems are subjected to in order to prove structural integrity. Listed — equipment or materials included in a list published by an organization acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction and concerned with product evaluation that maintains periodic inspection of production of listed equipment or materials and whose listing states either that the equipment or materials meets appropriate standards or has been tested and found suitable for use in a specified manner.
