Combustion products — constituents resulting from the combustion of a fuel gas with the oxygen of the air, including the inserts, but excluding excess air. Composite cylinder — a container designed, constructed, tested and marked in accordance with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) specifications,Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations. A container is either a fully wrapped fiber reinforced cylinder with non-metallic liner, or a two part adhesively bonded non-metallic cylinder without a liner. Condensate (condensation) — the liquid that separates from a gas (including flue gases) due to a reduction in temperature. Confined space — space whose volume is less than 50 ft 3 /1000 Btu/hr (4.8 m 3 /293 W) of the aggregate input rating of all appliances located in that space and an unconfined space as a space whose volume is not less than 50 ft 3 /1000 Btu/hr (4.8 m 3 /293 W) of the aggregate input rating of all appliances located in that space. Rooms communicating directly with the space in which the appliances are located, including openings not furnished with doors, are considered a part of the unconfined space. Also see “Unusually tight construction” definition. Controls — devices designed to regulate the gas, air, or water to a gas appliance. These may be manual, semi-automatic or automatic.
Cubic foot of gas — the amount of gas which would occupy 1 cubic foot when at a temperature of 60°F, if saturated with water vapor and under a pressure equivalent to that of 30 inches of mercury column. Cylinder side connection device — a connection system for composite cylinder service valve applications as defined by Standard for CompressedGas CylinderValve Outlet and Inlet Connections, CGA V-1, (CGA 793); Standard for Safety Adapters and CylinderConnection Devices for Portable LP-Gas Cylinder Assemblies, UL 2061; Standard for CylinderConnection Devices, ANSI Z21.81CSA 6.25; Standard for Safety CylinderValves, UL 1769; and Standard for Safety Overfilling Prevention Devices, UL 2227. Discharge air opening — any series of openings in the same plane separated by less than 1 inch of unbroken surface between openings through which heated air is discharged. For any opening through which ambient air is drawn in and discharged at a higher temperature through the same opening, the entire opening shall be deemed the discharge air opening.
Emergency use — (Source: LiquefiedPetroleum Gas Code, NFPA 58-2011):
a) The permanent heating system is temporarily out of service;
b) Heat is necessaryto prevent damage to the buildings or contents;
c) The cylinders and heaters comply with, and are used and transported in accordance with, 6.19.2,Additional Equipment Requirements for Cylinders, Equipment, Piping, and Appliances Used in Buildings, Building Roofs, and Exterior Balconies; and 6.19.4, Buildings Under Construction or Undergoing Major Renovation, of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code, NFPA 58;
d) The temporary heating equipment is not left unattended; and
