4) for an appliance that will burn either butane or propane at the correct pressure, “G30/G3 1 and/or butane/propane 29/3 7 mbar” plus the designation I3.
Where an appliance’s data plate carries the letters CAT! or CAT!!, followed by the gas type designations (i.e. 2H’ 2P’ 2B) then the appliance can be used for different types of gases when adjusted to do so. !n such a case, the operative should ensure that the appliance is correctly adjusted.
The appliance selected should, where appropriate, conform to 85 EN 203-1 and the applicable part of 85 EN 203-2.
6.1.2 Previously-used appliances
A previously-used appliance shall only be installed if it is:
a) in a serviceable and safe condition;
b) suitable for the gas being supplied;
c) fitted with a readable data plate; and
d) supplied with the manufacturer’s installation instructions. Ovens and similar enclosed burner equipment, such as steamers, shall be provided with flame supervision devices and appropriately upgraded gas controls. Upgrading of safety controls shall only be carried out using the appliance manufacturer’s instructions and parts. Where reasonably practicable, all burners shall be fitted with flame supervision devices.
An appliance which is not CE marked shall be secured, as necessary, to keep it stable. A narrow appliance shall not be located at the free end of a row of appliances.
Where an appliance is not fitted with a flame supervision device, the gas supply shall be fitted with a proving system to prove the closure of all valves prior to the establishment or restoration of the gas supply (see 7.3 and IGEM/UP/2 [31]).

The original packaging of a previously-used appliance is generally not available. Where the manufacturer’s instructions are not available, these should be obtained from the manufacturer or their agent before installation of the appliance begins.
Where a previously-used appliance carries the CE mark, its data plate is likely to carry the information on type of gas and appliance inlet pressure. In such a case, the installation should proceed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Where the appliance does not carry the CE mark, it has to be borne in mind that other criteria could apply, such as surface temperatures, cooking appliances stability, ventilation, etc., and these need to be taken into account in the method of installation.
6.1.3 Fryers and fish and chip ranges
Fryers and ranges shall not be located adjacent to appliances where water spillage could lead to a hazard, unless purpose-built splash panels are installed (see BS EN 203-2-4).
6.2 Site conditions (walls and floors)
The operative shall obtain confirmation that any base is capable of withstanding the weight of a fully laden appliance at temperatures up to 65 °C, and that all wall and floor finishes are capable of withstanding this temperature and are non-combustible (see also appliance manufacturers’ instructions).
The operative shall ensure that any floor on which an appliance is to be installed has a firm and smooth finish.
