wind turbine: The mechanical equipment transforming wind kinetic energy into other forms of energy.
wind turbine generator system(WTGS): The system converts kinetic energy of wind into electric energy.yaw: Rotation of the rotor axis about a vertical axis (for horizontal-axis wind turbines only).
yaw bearing: The main components of the yaw system that rotatably connect between the tower and thenacelle of the wind turbine.
yaw misalignment: Horizontal deviation of the wind turbine rotor axis from the wind direction.
yaw system: The yaw orientation system that keeps the rotor shaft properly aligned with the wind. For theactive yaw system in up-wind turbines, it is composed of the active yaw drive, automatic yaw control systemand breaks, etc.
4. General
The wind rotor system of the wind turbine generator system(WTGS) includes blade, hub, pitch system, andyaw system.
The defects of hub, blade, and other components should be tested and judged by nondestructive test, andtechnical repair shall be made correspondingly. The surface texture, material aging, and mechanical propertydeterioration of the components should be inspected, and the damage status of the materials should beevaluated.
lf components need test in batch, the component(s) shall have the batch number and be delivered with thecorresponding test report. If the component needs testing one by one, the component shall be given a uniquenumber and be delivered with the corresponding test report.
Quality confirmation shall be done before installation, which includes two main processes: manufacture andtransport. The component quality test shall be done within the factory. All the components shall be packed andtransported carefully, keeping the original condition.Superficial defect and document check shall be takenbefore installation.
The bolts shall be fastened as per the fastening torque values (process requirements) from the supplier.
After the occurrence of extreme weather or wind speed, supervision frequency of the wind rotor system shallbe increased according to the real condition. Icing inspection should be carried out in the weather and areaswhere the blades are prone to icing.
After component replacement event, the replacing component shallbetaken as newcomponent till adjustment, the technical supervision frequency should be increased compared to previous assembly.
Technical supervision documents shall be established and kept thoroughly. The documents shall include allrecords within the supervision scope in the process of installation, repair, and technical reconstruction.
5. Blade supervision
The static test, fatigue test, natural frequency measurement, modal analysis, and other type tests shall becompleted, and the test results shall meet the requirements of IEC 61400-23:2014.The reports shall involvestrength (hardness) inspection, ultrasonic test, infrared imagery analysis, acoustic analysis, blade surface roughness test, trailing edge thickness measurement and blade lightning protection test, and the test resultsshall meet the requirements of IEC 61400-1:2014 and IEC 61400-24:2010.The acoustic noise measurementand analysis shall be done according to IEEE 2400:2016.
Before blade installation, complete records of blade length, mass, gravity, and gravity center should beinspected. The mount match point, lifting points, and gravity center of the blades shall be marked clearly.
In the adjustment process, the installation angle of the blades shall be inspected, and verified that it is within therange from the supplier. The installation angles of blades of wind-turbine generator system shall be consistent.
