In response to increasing interest in the design and use of graphical symbols worldwide, this International Standard presents a large number of symbols for use in the field of machine tools. Supplementary symbols will be published on acceptance.

3 Registration numbers of symbols
The ordinal numbers given in the first column of the tables are provided for the convenience of local identification within the context of this International Standard.
The ISO/IEC registration number is given for each of the symbols. Registration numbers below 5000 refer to ISO 7000. Registration numbers above 5000 refer to IEC 60417. These numbers shall be the only reference numbers used to identify the symbols outside the context of this International Standard.
