ISO 20740:2019 pdf free download – Martial arts一Wushu Taiji sword一 Requirements and test method.
5.7.3 The blade shall not be turned and the surface shall be free of chips, cracks, apparent scratches or spots.
5.7.4 The surface of the scabbard shall be with uniform and smooth coating and no apparent scratches.
5.7.5 The left-right deviation of the central ridge shall be less than 2 mm.
5.8 Assembling
5.8.1 The pommel, hilt, guard and blade shall be connected firmly with each other and not easily loose.
5.8.2 The connection between the end of the blade and the bolt shall be able to sustain a tension of 500 N without deformation or flaking.
5.8.3 The pommel, hilt and blade shall be on the same line, with a deviation less than 3 mm.
5.8.4 The bolt shall not be higher than the screw-nut after being assembled.
5.9 Corrosion resistance
Surface-treated blade and metal parts shall be maintained above grade 6 (according to ISO 9227) after the neutral salt spray test (according to ISO 9227).
6 Marking
The Taiji symbol shall be located 100 mm to 150 mm to the end of the blade, with the black dot (fish eye) pointing to the tip and the white dot vertically beneath the black one, according to Figure 8.
7.3 Elasticity
7.3.1 Measurement tools
A steel plate used for testing shall be 1 000 mm long, 200 mm wide and 5 mm thick. The diameter of the steel cylinder shall be 40 mm. The steel straightedge shall be 150 mm long.
7.3.2 Test procedure
7.3.2.1 Mark a straight line of 1 000 mm on the surface of the steel plate and then place the blade vertically along the line.
7.3.2.2 Place the steel cylinder at the position of one third of the blade from its tip, then bend the blade around the cylinder into an angle of 45°. Maintain for 1 mm, then release it. Measure the distance from the tip to the marked straight line.
7.4 Coating adhesion
Put the blade and metallic pieces in a heating box. Heat to (300 ± 10) °C. Then, quench it in water with temperature of 20 °C to 25 °C. Observe the separation between the coating and base.
7.5 Safety
7.5.1 For the requirements in 5.6.1. a radius gauge or gage shall be used.
7.5.2 For the requirements in 5.6.2, sensory tests shall be carried out.
7.5.3 Hazardous substances in the coating on the scabbard and handle shall be tested in accordance with ISO 8 124-3.
7.5.4 For the measurements in 5.6.3. a micrometre shall be used.
7.6 Aspect
7.6.1 Test the surface roughness by using a surface roughness tester.
7.6.2 For the requirements in 5.7.2 to 5.74, sensory tests shall be carried out.
7.6.3 For the measurement required in 5.7.5. a calliper shall be used.
7.7 Assembling
7.7.1 For the requirements in 5.8.1 and 5.8.4. sensory tests shall be carried out.
7.7.2 Test the connection of the end of the blade and the bolt by a pull tester with a measuring range from 0 N to 1000 N.
7.7.3 Set the assembled sword vertically along the straight line marked on the platform before measuring the deflection from the straight line with a steel straightedge.
7.8 Corrosion resistance
Carry out the test for 4 h in accordance with ISO 9227 and ISO 10289 before evaluation.
